How accurate is receipt data extraction?
CleanTably achieves approximately 89% field-level accuracy across diverse receipt types (measured on a sample of 15+ real-world receipts). Accuracy is highest on clearly printed receipts — digital PDFs and laser-printed receipts — and slightly lower on heavily faded thermal receipts or crumpled paper.
Fields extracted include: store name, date, individual line items, quantities, unit prices, subtotal, tax, and total. We recommend spot-checking totals before submitting expense reports.
Can I batch process multiple receipts at once?
Yes. CleanTably supports uploading multiple receipt files in one session. Each receipt is processed individually and the results are combined into a single Excel spreadsheet — one row per receipt — making it easy to track expenses across an entire trip, month, or project. Is my receipt data kept private?
Yes. Your receipt files are processed securely via 256-bit TLS and permanently purged from our servers after your Excel file is delivered. We never read, share, or monetize your data. No human ever views your receipts — processing is fully automated by AI.

Does it work with handwritten receipts?
CleanTably can handle handwritten receipts with varying results. Clearly written numbers and printed text typically extract accurately. Very messy or cursive handwriting may reduce accuracy. For handwritten receipts, take a well-lit, straight-on photo at the highest resolution your phone allows.

Can I use this for expense reports?
Absolutely — expense reporting is one of the most common use cases.
